Peter Speakman

Director

Prior to founding Speakman Law, Peter was a partner at Brookfields (for nine years), and then at Kensington Swan (for six years) where he headed the corporate and tax division acting for large multi-national and locally owned corporate clients.

Peter is recognised for his expertise in the tax and corporate area and also regarding trusts. In recent years he has acted on a number of large business and share sale transactions where he has drafted and negotiated the agreements, advised on appropriate structuring choices, attended to applicable approval processes (including both governance approvals and regulatory approvals) and attended to financing requirements.

Peter is committed to delivering excellence at all times and focuses heavily on continuous learning and practice development as demonstrated by his authorship of a book published by CCH entitled "A Practical Guide to Tax Penalties in New Zealand" and authorship of the Takeovers section of Brookers Law and Practice. In addition he has authored numerous articles for the CCH NZ Tax Planning Reports and has been a keynote speaker at tax seminars and M & A conferences.

Outside of law he is a keen sportsman with interests in particular in cricket, golf, rugby, athletics and skiing. He is also a keen tramper and been coach of each of his 3 boys' many sports teams spanning 12 years or so.

 

 

Natalie Stewart

Natalie has over 20 years' experience in corporate and commercial law. She previously held positions in house at a large international corporate and as a Senior Associate at Minter Ellison Rudd Watts. Natalie has assisted Peter in the provision of legal and transactional advice during her time at Speakman Law.

Outside of law Natalie is a keen tramper and traveller and is otherwise gainfully employed by her children and their many extra curricular activities!
